About the author
A Brooklyn native growing up in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant with aspirations of becoming a successful writer. A New York City public servant for more than twenty years. Serving the community is just one of Charlene’s passions. She's made a career of serving and protecting New York City’s future, our kids. All while serving her community and writing, she is a dedicated mother of three.

Charlene’s Inspiration
Charlene’s love for writing began at an early stage in life. At the age of ten, she was introduced to journal writing by her mother, who is also a journal writer. Journal writing became a way for her to express her feelings and thoughts about her daily life. Charlene was reintroduced to journal writing by her ninth-grade English literacy teacher. Essay writing was a breeze. It wasn't until she was well into adulthood that Charlene began putting her creative ideas into her writing. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were fewer hours in most workplaces, which provided more time for Charlene to create buzzworthy projects.

Her Creative Journey
There are millions of stories to be told. Each writer has their own unique way of storytelling. Two people can tell the same story but neither story will be the same. Some writers use traditional writing styles and conventional techniques—others, like myself, prefer freestyling. There is no written rule for creativity.

Staying Motivated
My love for writing, sharing my stories with readers, and getting feedback, whether it's good or bad, is what motivates me to write the next story.
