About the author 

Charlene Singleton was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, with aspirations to become a successful novelist. When Charlene isn't busy writing, she is serving her community as a public servant. Writing isn't Charlene’s only passion; working in public service is another. She began her career protecting New York City’s students as a School Safety Agent more than 20 years ago. Charlene is a dedicated mother of three. As much as Charlene loves writing and serving her community, her children are her everything.

 

Charlene’s Inspiration

Charlene's writing inspiration began at the early age of ten, when her mother introduced her to journaling—that's where it all began. Charlene's daily journal entries became a way of expression. Writing became an outlet for Charlene to utilize her creative skills through literature. Shortly after high school, Charlene started a family. She has two sons and a daughter, who would become her greatest inspiration to date. 

Her Literary Journey

No Laws In Love is Charlene Singleton’s debut self-published novel. She began working on this title in 2022. As a new author, she has learned that writing a book isn't a 1-2-3 process; it takes time, hard work, and dedication from start to finish. For those of you who have been wondering, “What’s going on with the book?” Self-publishing takes a lot of work, but having total control of your own work is worth it. Self-publishing gives writers total creative control. Writers control the direction the story takes and how it is told. Having a career, raising a family, and dealing with the loss of her father is hard. You're probably wondering where Charlene finds the time? Through it all, she has managed to complete a novel for your entertainment. 

The Goal

Charlene’s goal is to connect with the audience through literature and to be consistent with creating engaging stories that will keep the readers looking forward to what's next. The ability to create engaging yet relatable stories that readers can grasp and be entertained all at the same time is a gift.
